CCSD Starts Annual Erg Student Rowing Competition
The Cherokee County School District has started a new tradition: an annual erg indoor rowing competition!
The special event, which gave middle school students the opportunity to compete for individual and team medals, is the latest success for a PE program started in 2023 with a nationally competitive grant. The first-ever CCSD Erg Sprints held this month at Mill Creek Middle School drew 115 competitors, with Teasley Middle School named the inaugural school champions. Top individual winners advance to compete next month at Georgia Tech.
Mill Creek MS PE teacher Coach Donna Ross coordinated the event with Ann Carey of the Allatoona Rowing Association, which has partnered with CCSD on the erg middle school PE program funded by the George Pocock Foundation Erg Ed Grant.
